Hello fellow DMB fans....It was such a monumental weekend at the Dave Matthews show that I felt it was time to share this experience with everyone. My name is Scott Taback and I currently live two lives: 1.) I'm a father of 3 working for IBM and 2.) I serve as a band promoter working with our one and only client: THE STRETCH. Hopefully you saw THE STRETCH play on the second stage prior to Dave or if you were really lucky you saw them play at Sleepy Bear campgrounds across the street from the Verizon Center. What will forever be known as "The Barn Show", I truly believe this performance officially puts THE STRETCH on the map. Unbeknownst to us, Umphrey's McGee, who has enjoyed a huge amount of success in recent years and a band THE STRETCH has been compared too, actually launched on to the scene two miles away at the Dead Creek Campground in Noblesville, IN during a Phish show. Umphrey's is from Chicago to boot....Spooky Irony. I've had the privilege to work and travel with THE STRETCH recently and as you've hopefully witnessed they are talented musicians. In fact the drummer, Brett Baxter, has a masters in percussion from Northwestern University. I didn't even know there was such a major! The band's incredible run started about a month ago where they played an amazing set at Rothbury. If you attended Rothbury you know how monumental that festival was and will be. Here's a tidbit about the band....about a week prior to Rothbury, one of the biggest festivals of recent years, the band decided to change it's name!! If you got a free demo CD you will notice the sticker above the name. Peel it off and you will see that THE STRETCH used to be called Uncle Boogie Pants! If you have a Rothbury T-Shirt Uncle Boogies Pants is the last name printed. (We unfortunately didn't get the name change submitted in time!) So I guess THE STRETCH will always be remembered as the band that has two names. It's a long and complicated story on why the band changed the name and perhaps I'll blog about that one day. If you are having troubles finding the THE STRETCH online that's the reason. You can find them at: http://www.thestretchmusic.com/ and http://www.myspace.com/thestretchmusic or if you are a Facebook person: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Stretch/39643667456 Lastly, if you really dig their sound you can find their album on iTunes...but it's currently under Uncle Boogie Pants until we can change it. There are just too many damn websites to take care of these days!! Anyway, if you were at Sleepy Bear we will have a video of the performance soon...maybe you'll be on it! I'll make sure to post it when we get it edited and such. Hold on to those Demos too....when these guys do take off you are holding a piece of history!! Feel free to post your experience of the past weekend...I'd love to hear what you thought about DMB, The Stretch anything! Til next time....
