I discovered The Stretch about 18 months ago in a bar in Chicago when they were Uncle Boogie Pants. This band's music is clearly not your average Chicago bar band. The Stretch has a very strong Phish influence yet they have crafted out their own sound. When I heard the Volume & Verse CD, even before the Relix Magazine review, April/May 2008, I thought this group
offered the best hope for filling the void and re-energizing a nation of fans who mourned the loss of Trey and the band. I was right..."Like Phish, moe and Umprhey's McGee before them, this band simply rips." --ended the review by Relix Magazine.
This band 's CD rocks and the live shows are "orchestrated manhem." The driving force in this band is Rizman's lead guitar and he clearly is one of the best to surface in a long time. The whole band is very tight and this is the first time in the several years that I have heard anything like this music. No offense to any of the current Indie bands, but The Stretch is taking us back to music a whole legion of fans have missed since Phish checked out.
Check these guys out because I know that this time next year you can say you saw them "when". I think Chitown Scott's right, the Uncle Boogie Pants CD, "Volume & Verse" ..could become a collectors item. I have it! You have to dig around on the web to find them, http://www.myspace.com/thestretchmusic where you can hear songs. She Says is my favorite.
The last great musical adventure started in Vermont. This one looks to have already begun in Chicago....
The Stretch rips!
